Locations AfricaTM is a private sector initiative focusing on a filming locations, facilities and skills, conceived in 2015 as an expo and discussion forum, Locations Africa positions Africa as a key filming destination equipped with all the necessary elements for production.
Locations Africa fills the void between production planning and exhibition of films. We discuss physical production, locations that are film friendly, what equipment is available, what skills are on hand, shoot facilities and how can in-bound productions benefit from incentives etc.. We also discuss the ins and outs of servicing for those entering the value-chain unlocking transformation building skills capacity on the continent
Our goal is to contribute to the increase in the number of films and content shot on location in Africa, improve the skills of both private and public sectors in meeting the needs of filmmakers, increase the numbers of businesses and individuals, particularly from disadvantaged backgrounds across Africa, participating in the sector and building the filming brand identity of Africa in a way that boosts investment.
Our desired outcomes include increased direct foreign investment into African economies, more job creation, more small business development and greater exposure of the continent’s filming potential.
Year on year, even under and beyond COVID-19 restrictive conditions, Locations Africa will continue to put Africa on the Map as a filmmaking destination of choice.
